Things I'm Thankful For

1. My mother. She has been very supportive of me during the last few years and I'm glad to see that she is still hanging in there and in good health.
2. My siblings, who have been more patient with me this past few years than perhaps they should be.
3. My current mejor amiga, who has been more patient with me this year than I would have been in her place.
4. My health. (Never a thing to take for granted at my age.)
5. My job. (Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a job this time of year.)
6. My co-workers.
7. My late sister's children, who are doing their best to make their mother proud.
8. My relatives in Michigan, California and other states, who continue to inspire me far more than they will ever know.

Quote of the Week

So while good times last, let us be thankful. It was not always so, and yet during darker times they still found reason to give thanks.

Comic Book Image of the Week

The evil turkey from Hellboy in Mexico wants you all to have a happy Thanksgiving. And to eat more chicken. Buying more Hellboy comics would probably meet with his approval as well. After all, he is evil.

Things I'm Thankful For

1. My mother. She is a bit older than I would like her to be but that beats the alternative.
2. My siblings, who have been more patient with me this year than I would be in their place.
3. My bosses and co-workers on my current job who have also been very patient with me.
4. My favorite surviving amiga who manages to cheer me up quite often despite her own problems.
5. My doctors who help keep me in good health.
6. My health. (Never a thing to take for granted at my age.)
7. My job. (Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a job this time of year.)
8. My online friends who influence me for the good more than they know.
9. My relatives outside of Texas, who as always, continue to inspire me far more than they will ever know.

Quote of the Week

The Americans have established a Thanksgiving Day to celebrate the fact that the Pilgrim Fathers reached America. The English might very well establish another Thanksgiving Day; to celebrate the happy fact that the Pilgrim Fathers left England.

Comic Book Image of the Week

I really did not expect to post another Wonder Woman image this soon -- especially since there are so many other comic book characters out there who have yet to be referenced on this blog. But in view of tomorrow's holiday, the above group of scenes from an old issue of Justice League of America seemed so appropriate.

Then again, I could have posted this image below in its place but I am still trying to figure out what type of storyline could have made this scene make sense.

¡Feliz Día de Acción de Gracias!

I probably will not be posting anything tomorrow or Friday so I want to take some time today to wish all my readers a happy Thanksgiving. I wish you all many blessings and I hope you all survive Black Friday. With luck, I should be posting again on Saturday but if circumstances prevent me from doing so, I hope you all enjoy a great weekend.

Whatever else you do this weekend, I hope you all don't do anything monstrous.

¡Feliz Día de Acción de Gracias!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my loyal readers. I hope this week finds you all in good health and in good spirits.

I doubt that I will be able to post anything until after this weekend so I'm placing this blog on hiatus until next Saturday. I really did mean to post some items last week but real life kept getting in the way.

Here's hoping that your life goes more smoothly than mine this coming weekend. Buena suerte!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Guajolote Day tomorrow to all my faithful readers. May you have a pleasant week.

This will be the first Thanksgiving my family has celebrated since my sister died. So I may not be in the mood to blog much this weekend. I hope you all have a celebration that is much happier than mine.

Friday, Bloody Friday

This is depressing. One man was trampled -- apparently, he was later found to have died of a heart attack -- and one woman suffered a miscarriage at the opening of a Long Island Wal-Mart last Friday.

If that wasn't bad enough, there was a shootout at a California Toys R Us in which two men were killed on the same day.

Nice to see this year's holiday season getting off to such a pleasant start.

Movie Song of the Week: “The Yam”

Yes, I suppose I could have found something musical that was more Thanksgiving-related than this number but why bother? After all, yams are going to be part of many a Thanksgiving feast today and besides, the sight of poor Ginger singing and dancing her heart out is something that should not passed over for the likes of some turkey.

Besides, I actually liked the movie from which this number came from -- 1938's Carefree -- and I relish the opportunity to give it some free publicity. Not that Fred and Ginger need any help from yours truly, but still...

I hope you all enjoy it.
