Things I Learned While I Was in the Hospital

1. Nothing makes you want to talk more than having a tube stuck down your throat.

2. Nursing is an underappreciated profession.

3. A hospital stay that is shorter than expected is a blessing; unfortunately, most hospital stays are not so blessed.

4. A visit from friends or relatives is worth more than anything they could possibly put on TV.

5. Medicine is an underappreciated profession.

6. You never appreciate the freedoms that come with good health until you lose them.

Heh. Irony!

I just got out of the hospital this past Thursday after a two-week stay. I was originally checked in for what I had assumed would be a single weekend but unfortunately, my body proved to be in worse shape than I thought. I would like to think I'm better now but I still have quite a few weeks of physical therapy ahead of me. Plus I have to reverse a lot of bad habits.

Wish me luck.
