Yankee Weather

We're officially experiencing winter weather here in Dallas this week and it's not even December. I was just getting used to wearing jackets again and now I have to get used to wearing coats. And caps. And gloves. Maybe even scarfs.

On the bright side, it has not snowed yet.

Fantasy Quote of the Week

October Country . . . that country where it is always turning late in the year. That country where the hills are fog and the rivers are mist; where noons go quickly, dusks and twilights linger, and mid-nights stay. That country composed in the main of cellars, sub-cellars, coal-bins, closets, attics, and pantries faced away from the sun. That country whose people are autumn people, thinking only autumn thoughts. Whose people passing at night on the empty walks sound like rain. . . .

Quote of the Week

I felt like Casper the Friendly Ghost. If I was brown in September, beige in October, and white in November, then would I be transparent by December?

Song Quote of the Week

Ain't it funny how the night moves
When you just don't seem to have as much to lose.
Strange how the night moves
With autumn closing in.

October Is the Busiest Month

I've been meaning to post far more than I have been as of late, but due to various plans involving my upcoming nupitals, such posts have been delayed.

Just as well. We in Dallas have been having a rainier-than-usual September and now we're having a hotter-than-usual October. Apparently Mother Nature is taking the term "Indian Summer" way too literally since it sometimes feels like we might as well be in that country as far as the weather is concerned.

Oh, well. I'll post when I can.

A Hazy Shade of Autumn

Fall officially began this morning here in Dallas. After months of sleeping without a blanket, I was forced to use one this morning because the temperature was too cold without one. Of course, it might have helped if I wasn't using the ceiling fan but then it's been way too hot down here for me to do much sleeping without using the ceiling fan.

Not that “cold” means a lot in Texas right now. Temperatures are still in the 80s in the afternoon, and my girlfriend and I were able to go out last night without either of us needing to wear a sweater or jacket. But in a few weeks we probably will not be able to do that. And by November such nights were definitely be rare.
