R.I.P. Christine Keeler

English model and showgirl Christine Keeler -- most famous for her role in the infamous Profumo affair -- finished her portfolio on December 4, 2017, at age 75.

She will be missed.

AKA Nastassja Aglaia Nakszynski.

Born January 24, 1961.

She is a German actress and former model who is famous for such movies as Tess -- for which she won a Golden Globe -- and Paris, Texas. She is also noted for being the daughter of actor Klaus Kinski and his wife, Ruth Brigitte Tocki.

Back in 1981, she also appeared in the above poster Nastassja Kinski and the Serpent by American fashion photographer Richard Avedon.

For that matter, she is equally famous -- or infamous -- for appearing in the 1982 remake of the classic Val Lewton film Cat People, a film that was not quite as well-regarded as the original. All in all, she has appeared in more than sixty films in both Europe and the United States, which is not bad for someone still unknown to many people nowadays.

¡Feliz Cumpleaños, Daisy Fuentes!

Born November 17, 1966.

She is the Cuban-born daughter of a Cuban father and a Spanish mother. She is best known as a model, actress and television personality but she is also famous for being MTV's first Latina VJ and Revlon's first Latina spokesperson to be signed to a worldwide contract. She was also a co-host of the TV show America's Funniest Home Videos from 1998 to 1999 and has appeared on such TV shows as Dream On and Cybill.

However, she has changed a bit over the years as the above two photos will show. (The top one was taken in 2009; the other was taken in 2013. Of course, the one at the very top of this post was taken in 1997.)

She is a celebrated model and actress best known for her role as Mystique in the X-Men movies and for her recurring role on the Ugly Betty series. She is also famous for her photos for Sports Illustrated.

AKA Cynthia Dawn "Cindy" Margolis.

Born October 1, 1965.

She is an American model and actress who appeared in a minor role in the first Austin Powers movie and who is much more famous as an Internet glamour model. She was named "Queen of the Internet" by Yahoo Internet Magazine from 1996 to 1999 due to the number of pictures downloaded from her web site. She was especially famous for being so popular with male fans despite not posing in the nude, an accomplishment that basically ended in 2006 when she broke down and posed for a Playboy nude photo session.

I realize that she is not exactly an appropriate figure for the first day of October but it's not like she could help when she was born.

AKA Cheryl Rae Tiegs.

Born September 25, 1947.

She is an American model, author and designer who is considered to be the world's first supermodel as well as the first model to branch off into the business world and become successful in retail. She did three covers for Time Magazine and appeared three times in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue issues. She also posed for a 1978 poster which was as iconic for my generation as the classic Farrah Fawcett swimsuit poster. Of course, I remember her best for the above photo but then that's just me.

AKA Cameron Michelle Diaz.

Born August 30, 1972.

She is an American actress whose father was of Cuban and Spanish descent and whose mother was of German, Scotch-Irish and English descent. She started out as a model when she was in her teens, then made her movie debut in the 1994 film The Mask. She has since made a lot of movies including My Best Friend's Wedding, The Holiday, The Box and The Green Hornet, and she is pretty much close to being Hollywood's ideal of the All-American Girl -- which, of course, I should find ironic because of her ethnic background.

It is hard for me to believe that she is already 42 years old...

R.I.P. Bunny Yeager

American photographer and pin-up model Bunny Yeager -- also known as Linnea Eleanor "Bunny" Yeager and best known for having taken some of the most famous pictures of the late Bettie Page -- put the lens cap on her camera for the last time on May 25 at age 85.

She will be missed.

AKA Bettie Mae Page, the Queen of Curves, and the Dark Angel.

Born April 22, 1923. Died December 11, 2008.

She was one of America's most favorite pin-up models as well as one of Playboy Magazine's earliest Playmates of the Month.

She later converted to evangelical Christianity and spent most of the latter part of her life in less than happy circumstances. Then again, she was alleged to have begun the earliest part of her life in less than happy circumstances.

However, unlike so many members of her former profession, she is still remembered today for her iconic features and her enigmatic wink and smile. Indeed, she is one of the few female celebrities of the 1950s whose name can still be recognized by people under the age of 30, and despite her less than happy life, she still inspires women of a certain profession even today. Hopefully, this is a good thing, right?

Cameron Diaz (1972 - ). The daughter of a Cuban-American father and a mother of English, German and Cherokee descent. A former model who made her movie acting debut in 1994's The Mask and who has been active in movies ever since.

R.I.P. Bettie Page

I was all set to write a post last week about how surprised I was to find out that former pinup girl Bettie Page -- the same Bettie Page that inspired the movie The Notorious Bettie Page -- was still alive. But then I got busy with other things and I forgot to write it.

Unfortunately, Ms. Page was in the hospital at that time so it's just as well I didn't write that post. Especially since she has since died this past Thursday at the age of 85.

For what I've read of her biography, she seemed to be a good woman whose most recent life was not quite as happy as I would wish for someone so famous.

She will be missed.
